![]() If you really want to play a US battleship well, my advice is to avoid heading towards the map borders. If your guns are loaded, but you're having to wait a lot to get into range to fire, then you're not helping the team out. ![]() Again, this means you need to be in a position where you can fire your guns. Even as you move somewhere, it would be a good idea to also be thinking about where you will go after that.Īlso, US battleships usually have less range on their guns than IJN ones. You have to be pro-active about where you want your ship to go. I bring this up because no matter what else you do you will have to always keep in mind that you cannot rush to a crisis point and assist. The first five battleships are all slow, and there is no other way to get around that single feature. Switching to HE with AP loaded means you will be unable to fire for half a minute (by which time the DD will have long slipped away), and loading AP from HE to take on regular sized targets will just mean you'll have more time to break out the smores while your ship burns to the keel.Īnd, of course, always have your turrets pre-turned to a broadside, and turn your ship rather than your turrets: it's a lot faster. ![]() ![]() There's a case to be made to switch to HE to take on DD's, but in the ideal circumstance you will have cruisers with you who will deal with the little pest. Lastly, always fire AP in your battleship. Don't be afraid to take damage: that's what your repair party is for. They can put out a lot more fire than you can, and you can take the return shots better than they can. Cruisers and DD's don't have that same resilience : when possible, screen your allies from fire. ![]() A single torpedo won't finish them, at later tiers even a full torpedo spread from a carrier squadron won't be enough to finish you off. You won't be able to keep up with them, they will have to slow down to offer you meaningful support.īattleship can take a lot of punishment. As a battleship you will want at least one cruiser with you, so do ask in chat if someone is willing to escort. You will, at best, hit one or two shells out of an entire broadside, which will most likely deal minimum damage.Īs everyone above is saying, stay with your fleet. At maximum range, it is possible to miss a stationary battleship sized target in a USN BB. ![]()
